Aneuvo launches clinical trial for noninvasive spinal cord stimulator

Spine

Therapy development company Aneuvo has launched a clinical trial for its ExaStim TSS system, a wirelessly controlled, noninvasive spinal cord stimulator.

The study will examine the safety and efficacy of using ExaStim paired with rehabilitation therapy for patients living with upper extremity paralysis due to spinal cord injuries.

ExaStim delivers stimulation to the spinal cord to modulate neural networks, enabling improved motor functions. Some research suggests that noninvasive spinal cord stimulation can help spinal cord injury patients regain motor function, according to a Feb. 2 press release.

The clinical trial will enroll up to 140 patients at 14 sites across the U.S. The ExaStim neurostimulator received FDA breakthrough device designation status.
