Sherwin Hua, MD, a spine surgeon at Stevenson Surgery Center in Fremont, Calif., has performed the first case in the U.S. using Taiwan Main Orthopedic Biotechnology's Caduceus S augmented reality spine navigation system.
The navigation system uses 2D C-arm imaging technology to create a map of the patient's spine, according to a March 10 press release.
The system provides real-time visualization to surgeons during procedures and offers enhanced details for more accuracy.
