Stephen Ritter, MD, of Carmel, Ind.-based Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, performed the first spine surgery in Indiana using Stryker's Q Guidance system.
The system produces real-time 3D imaging of a patient's spine and assists surgeons during cases.
"Spinal surgeries performed using Stryker’s technology have the potential to be safer, faster and less invasive than other procedures," Dr. Ritter said in a July 24 news release shared with Becker's. "Our patients can recover more quickly with fewer complications and less prolonged pain, reducing the need for pain medication and shortening hospital stays. In my experience, patients are often up and walking within 24 hours of surgery."
Dr. Ritter is a spine surgeon, and he's served as a consultant for the Indianapolis Colts and the NFL Combine.
