Dr. Roger Härtl named to the American Academy of Neurological Surgery

Roger Härtl, MD, of New York City-based Weill Cornell Medicine, was brought in as a member of the American Academy of Neurological Surgery, the hospital said in an Oct. 10 news release.

Dr. Härtl is director of Neurosurgery Spine at the Weill Cornell Medicine Brain and Spine Center, and he is a professor of neurosurgery, according to Weill Cornell's website. He's also the founder and director of the Weill Cornell Medicine Center for Comprehensive Spine Care and co-director of the Och Spine program at NewYork-Presbyterian.

Dr. Härtl is involved with medical service and founded Weill Cornell's Global Neurosurgery Initiative in Tanzania. That initiative earned him an AANS Humanitarian of the Year award in 2022.

His clinical interests include simple and complex spine sugery, minimally invasive spine surgery and computer-assisted spinal navigation. He earned his medical degree at Ludwig-Maximillians University in Munich, Germany and completed his residency Weill Cornell Medical Center.
