David Skaggs, MD, director of pediatric spine and pediatric orthopedics at Los Angeles-based Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children's operated on a teen actress ahead of filming for the recently-released Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.
McKenna Grace saw Dr. Skaggs who addressed a 50-degree curve in her spine, Cedars-Sinai said in a March 26 feature. Ms. Grace's scoliosis had been a concern since she was 12, and by the time she was 16 the condition was exacerbated and affecting her work.
Dr. Skaggs operated on the actress, placing rods and screws across six vertebrae to straighten her spine. The procedure and Ms. Grace's recovery were completed in time for her to film Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which hit theaters March 22.
