Becker's reported on five spine surgery debuts so far in April.

1. Lynn McGrath, MD, a neurosurgeon at Weill Cornell Medicine and NewYork-Presbyterian in New York City, performed the first endoscopic spine surgery in Tanzania. 

2. Oliver Tannous, MD, of MedStar Washington (D.C) Hospital Center, became the first to use a 3D-printed replica of a patient's spine to assist in surgery.

3. Surgeons at Dunkirk, N.Y.-based Brooks Hospital performed the first spine surgery in the facility's 125-year history.

4. Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Hospital became the first hospital in the region to add the Aprevo spine implant for replacing damaged or diseased vertebral discs in the lumbar area of the spine.

5. Gregory Poulter, MD, completed Indiana's first spine surgery with eXperiential Reality technology at Indianapolis-based OrthoIndy.
