The departments of neurosurgery and neurology at Good Samaritan Hospital and the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine, both located in Los Angeles, have formed a new affiliation and established the USC Neuroscience Center at Good Samaritan Hospital.
The new center will bring USC neurosurgeons, neuro-interventionalists, neuro-oncologists and neurologists to the Good Samaritan Hospital campus. The center will include both inpatient care and outpatient consultation focusing on intracranial tumors, spinal procedures, neuro-oncology, stroke and other vascular conditions.
The affiliation also provides the USC department of neurosurgery with access to referrals from the Good Samaritan emergency department. Thomas C. Chen, MD, PhD, director of the USC/Norris Neuro-Oncology Program and a tenured professor of neurological surgery and pathology at the USC Keck School of Medicine, will serve as director of the new center.
"The Good Samaritan affiliation brings the best of both worlds into one location: convenience of a community hospital, with the expertise of the university hospital," said Dr. Chen.
