Elmhurst (Ill.) Hospital names Richard Byrne, MD, medical director of neurosurgical services, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

Here are four things to know about Dr. Byrne:

 

1. He is also chairman of the department of neurosurgery and medical director of university neurosurgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

 

2. He is board-certified and has authored more than 100 publications and book chapters on neurological surgery.

 

3. He completed his residency in neurological surgery at Rush University Medical Center, after which he received additional training in epilepsy and brain tumor surgery.

 

4. He is president of the Chicago Neurological Society and Illinois State Neurosurgical Society.
