Specializing in spinal surgery, James D. Kang, MD, serves as the chairman of the department of orthopedic surgery at Boston-based Brigham and Women's Hospital. Dr. Kang has a strong interest in minimally invasive procedures.
Dr. Kang is a pioneer in the clinical treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration. He has headed the development of novel therapies for IDD using gene transfer and stem cell technologies.
Dr. Kang earned his medical degree from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in Oklahoma City. Following medical school, Dr. Kang underwent his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. He then completed his spine surgery fellowship at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
