West Orange, N.J.-based Atlantic Spine Center now offers virtual consultations. Patients may connect with the center's physicians to discuss their back or neck pain via video chat.
Here are five thoughts.
1. Kaixuan Liu, MD, PhD, spine specialist and founder of Atlantic Spine Center, and his team will evaluate patients virtually by conducting diagnostic studies and asking diagnostic questions.
2. The process is simple: Patients sign up through the center's patient portal and upload their medical records and MRI and CT scans.
3. Patients may then set up a live one-on-one virtual consultation with one of the center's spine surgeons.
4. Every patient receives assistance from an assigned Patient Advocate through the entire process.
5. Dr. Liu completed his minimally invasive spine surgery fellowship at Advanced Orthopedics of South Florida in Lake Worth. He received his doctorate in biomedical sciences from Auburn University in Alabama.
"The convenience of not having to take off from work, to see and talk with a doctor in a familiar and non-threatening environment, to schedule the appointment at their convenience (perhaps in the early morning or late evening), to avoid travel, is a tremendous benefit to patients," said Dr. Liu.
