Farmington-based UConn Health appointed Ketan Bulsara, MD, its new neurosurgery division chief, according to UConn Today.
Here are six highlights:
1. Dr. Bulsara comes to UConn Health from New Haven, Conn.-based Yale University.
2. During his time at Yale, Dr. Bulsara established programs in neurovascular and skull base surgery.
3. A pioneer in mechanical thrombectomy, Dr. Bulsara will elevate UConn Health's stroke program to offer complex cranial cases.
4. In his new role, Dr. Bulsara will also help expand the epilepsy program to involve neurosurgery treatments and recruit new neurosurgeons.
5. Dr. Bulsara has written three books and more than 120 peer-reviewed publications.
6. Dr. Bulsara completed a fellowship in skull base/cerebrovascular microsurgery at Little Rock-based University of Arkansas and neurointerventional fellowship at Durham, N.C.-based Duke University.
