At the National Neuroscience Institute in Singapore, women make up 15 percent of all neurosurgeons, according to ANI.

1. There are 33 neurosurgeons at the National Neuroscience Institute. Recently, the institute welcomed its third female neurosurgeon.
2. The National University of Singapore reported 52 percent of its medical student undergraduates are women compared to 44 percent 10 years ago.
3. The rise in women choosing neurosurgery can be attributed to the larger portion of women in medical school along with a larger female surgical workforce.
4. The larger number of female neurosurgeons gives patients more options when choosing a physician.
