Philadelphia-based Rothman Institute spine surgeon Guy Lee, MD, participated in Abington Global Health Mission's recent trip to the Dominican Republic.
Here are three insights.
1. Now in its eighth year of service, the mission sends OB/GYNs, pediatricians and orthopedic surgeons to underserved nations for a week to provide free care.
2. Dr. Lee treated spine related patients, including trauma, for the week of service.
3. Dr. Lee spent time at a hospital for two days performing surgery and spent the rest of his time seeing patients at clinics, administering injections and teaching orthopedic and primary care physicians.
