Dr. Kern Singh performs 1st outpatient spine surgeries at new Rush facility

Kern Singh, MD, and his surgical team performed the first four minimally invasive outpatient spine surgeries at a new surgical facility in Oak Brook, Ill., on Nov. 7. 

Dr. Singh performed minimally invasive lumbar decompressions on the four patients, who were all discharged within two hours of surgery.

The new center, operated jointly by Rush University Medical Center and Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush in Chicago, provides outpatient cervical and lumbar laminectomies, discectomies, artificial disc replacements and fusions. 

Dr. Singh is a professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at RUMC and director of the Minimally Invasive Spine Institute in Chicago.
