Stanford (Calif.) University School of Medicine has appointed Michael Lim, MD, chair of its department of neurosurgery, effective Sept. 1

After 25 years in the role, Gary Steinberg, MD, PhD, is stepping down to focus on his clinical practice, research and training.

Dr. Lim completed his residency at Stanford in 2007, before joining Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, where he has led the brain tumor therapy program, metastatic brain tumor center, stereotactic radiosurgery division and trigeminal neurology center.

He has co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and spearheaded several clinical trials.

"I see many great opportunities to expand on this work, with an eye to continuing to push to personalize medicine and restore function to people," Dr. Lim said.
