A tweet from a Tennessee neurosurgeon has received more than 170,000 "likes" for sharing an operating room hack that would benefit anyone who wears eyeglasses, CTV News reports.
Daniel Heiferman, MD, a neurosurgery fellow at Semmes Murphey Neurologic & Spine Institute in Memphis, recommended placing a bandage over the mask on the bridge of the nose to prevent glasses from fogging up. It's a trick he learned in the OR.
"It may save lives," Dr. Heiferman said in the Nov. 12 tweet.
"A lot of surgeons use just regular surgical tape that's available in the operating room, but it really irritated the bridge of my nose," he told CTVNews. "I thought of using just a Band-Aid that has a little cotton pad on it that will sit kind of on that part that was really irritating to me."
Chicago native Dr. Heiferman completed his residency at Loyola Medicine in Maywood, Ill., this year.
