Livingston, N.J.-based Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center appointed Joseph Koziol, MD, chair of neurosurgery.
Dr. Koziol has been an attending physician at the hospital for nearly 30 years, according to a Jan. 3 news release. In his new role, he will oversee the neurosurgery department's more than 60 surgeons.
He earned his medical degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, N.J., and was the first resident at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark.
"Dr. Koziol’s deep understanding of the department, coupled with his vision and expertise, will continue the department’s growth and enhance the delivery of advanced neurological care for adults and children in our community," Richard Davis, president and CEO of CBMC, said in the release.
