Neurosurgeon becomes chief of medical staff at HCA hospital

Neurosurgeon Steven Vanni, DO, was named chief of medical staff at HCA Florida University Hospital in Davie.

He has practiced medicine for more than 26 years and was previously chief of spine surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, according to a Feb. 7 news release. In this new role, he will be tasked with creating a neuroscience program at the hospital.

"Dr. Vanni is a highly accomplished physician, and with his experience and leadership, our patients will receive quality care from one of the most respected neurosurgeons in South Florida," Madeline Nava, CEO of HCA Florida University Hospital, said in the release. "Our comprehensive neurosciences program sets the bar for care in Broward County and beyond."

Dr. Vanni is also an adjunct neurosurgery professor at Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Davie and a volunteer professor at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
