12-month study confirms effectiveness of sacroiliac joint fusion device

A 12-month study confirmed the effectiveness of Surgalign Holdings' SImmetry system for sacroiliac joint fusion, the devicemaker said March 24.

Three things to know:

1. The study examined clinical outcomes after minimally invasive sacroiliac joint fusion with decortication. Researchers looked at 250 participants across 23 sites.

2. After 12 months, 72.2 percent of patients achieved the minimal clinically important difference criteria of reduction in the VAS pain measurement, and 62.5 percent of patients achieved the MCID criteria of reduction in the oswestry disability index.

3. The findings were published in the February 2022 issue of the International Journal of Spine Surgery.
