Terminal Elbow Extension Effective for Competitive Athletes

Orthopedic Sports Medicine

The arthroscopic release of contractures regularly achieves highly functional elbows in athletes, according to an article published in The American Journal of Sports Medicine.

Researchers studied athletes with limited elbow extension who underwent an arthroscopic release of contractures procedure and found all elbows improved. After the procedure, pain for the athletes during sporting activities was absent in most patients and most patients returned to the same level of performance as before the surgery.
