SI-BONE Presents Data to Support iFuse Implant System for SI Joint Fusion

San Jose, Calif.-based SI-BONE published the results from two of its clinical trials on the iFuse Implant System for the sacroiliac joint. The two studies were titled, "Open vs. Minimally Invasive Sacroiliac Joint Fusion: a Multi-Center Comparison of Perioperative Measures and Clinical Outcomes," and "Safety and 6-Month Effectiveness of Minimally Invasive Sacroiliac Joint Fusion: A Prospective Study."

The first study looked at patients who underwent either an open surgical procedure or a minimally invasive procedure with the iFuse system. The iFuse patients had significantly greater pain relief than those traditionally-treated.

The second study evaluated the implant's safety and effectiveness. IFuse patients showed a 49 point improvement from baseline in VAS at six months and a 15.8 point decrease in Oswestry Disability Index. No revisions or removals were necessary.
