Warsaw, Ind.-based Biomet experienced solid growth in the second quarter of 2014 with a net income of $4.9 million, up from the $66.2 million loss the company experienced during the same period last year. Biomet's net sales were also up 4.5 percent this past quarter, totaling $825.7 million. Spine sales increased 2.3 percent from $102.6 million to $104.9 million. The biggest growth was seen in knees, which increased 6.6 percent to $264 million.
The company's 2012 acquisition of DePuy Orthopaedic's trauma products has helped increase growth over the last year.
