Aurora Spine focuses on developing minimally invasive, regenerative spinal technologies.
1. Aurora Spine announced the appointment of Doug Johnson as regional vice president of sales for the Eastern United States. Most recently, he served as the area vice president east/director of business development for Life Spine. He has more than 15 years of sales experience, and in his current role, Mr. Johnson will be responsible for Aurora's Eastern United States sales efforts.
In February, the company also appointed Mike Keegan to the position of executive vice president of U.S. sales, a new position at the company.
2. Trent Northcutt is the CEO of Aurora Spine and Eric Fronk serves as its CFO. Mr. Northcutt has previously served as the vice president of sales and business development for Alphatec Spine, and during his tenure increased the company's revenues from $7.4 million to $87.1 million. Mr. Fronk previously served as CFO of Location Based Technologies, a publicly traded wireless technology company. He was also part of the team that prepared Alphtec Spine for its initial public offering in 2006.
3. In September 2013, Aurora Spine company announced it completed its initial public offering of 5.15 million shares at $0.70 per share for approximately $3.61 million in proceeds.

4. Aurora Spine's products include the ZIP MIS Interspinous Fusion System, ZIP ULTRA MIS Interspinous Fusion System and the ZIP L5-S1 Sacral Interspinous Fusion Implant. The company recently announced that it has received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the company's new ZIP MIS system and for additional sizes of the company's ZIP ULTRA Minimally Invasive Interspinous Fusion System. The new ZIP MIS system features non-articulating bone anchors, Aurora Spine's patent pending one-step locking mechanism with no set screw and a large graft space designed for biologic material.
5. The company's products are used worldwide, and in March, its ZIP ULTRA Minimally Invasive Interspinous Fusion Implant was surgically implanted in a patient in Poland. It has also received Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration clearance for the ZIP Ultra Interspinous Fusion System.
