Purdue University joined OrthoWorx University | Industry Advisory Board, formed to connect technology and talent needs of the orthopedic medical device industry in Indiana with the assets and capabilities of Indiana's higher education institutions.

Purdue already supports the orthopedic industry in Indiana through the Purdue Technical Assistance Program, Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne orthopedic educational courses and research projects with orthopedic companies in the state.

OrthoWorx was formed in 2009 to support the orthopedic device industry in Warsaw, Ind., which accounts for 13,000 direct and indirect jobs and contributes more than $3 billion in value annually to the Indiana economy.

"The orthopedic medical device industry is one of our state's most valuable and promising economic resources," said Purdue Research Foundation President and Chief Entrepreneurial Officer Dan Hasler. "With the resources of Purdue University more closely aligned with the orthopedic cluster through OrthoWorx, I believe there can be greater opportunities for our students to enter this important industry."
