The first human implantation of Alachua, Fla.-based RTI Surgical’s map3 Cellular Allogeneic Bone Graft took place last week. The surgery was performed by Franco Vigna, MD, an orthopedic surgeon with Spine Surgery of Buffalo Niagara in Niagara Falls, N.Y.
The implant was designed to be a safe alternative to autograft. It supplies osteogenesis, osteoinduction and osteoconduction necessary for bone report. The map3 also incorporates a multipotent adult progenitor cell-based technology with stem cells isolated in the bone material.
