Eric Dremel has been named president of Medacta USA, a subsidiary of Medacta International.
Medacta International is a privately held company focused on manufacturing orthopedic implants, neurosurgical systems and instrumentation.
1. Mr. Dremel has more than 27 years of experience in the development and commercialization of orthopedic products. He most recently served as general manager of Medacta USA's Joint Reconstruction Division.
2. Mr. Dremel joined the company in 2012, prior to which he served as vice president of sales for nine years at DePuy Orthopaedics. He has also held senior marketing and sales management roles at Stryker and Zimmer.
"Eric's experience building successful orthopedics businesses makes him the ideal choice to lead Medacta USA and position it for long-term success in this large and growing market," said Francesco Siccardi, executive vice president of Medacta International, in the press release.
3. Mr. Dremel's appointment comes as Medacta prepares to celebrate the opening of its new U.S. headquarters in Chicago in June. Medacta International is headquartered in Castel San Pietro, Switzerland, and it operates in 26 countries.
4. Medacta, along with leading orthopedic surgeons, pioneered the Anterior Minimally Invasive Surgery technique. AIMS is a muscle-sparing technique for total hip replacement, which is intended to shorten rehabilitation and reduce complications.
5. In 1999, the Siccardi family in Switzerland re-invested part of its capital into the field of orthopedics and founded Medacta International. Medacta USA was established in 2009. "Since entering the market in 2009, Medacta USA has experienced rapid year-over-year growth, and its products have received accolades from surgeons and patients nationwide," said Mr. Dremel in a news release.
