Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y., recently incorporated MAKOplasty technology for partial joint replacement procedures, according to a TWC News report.
This is the first hospital in the region incorporate MAKOplasty technology, a robotic arm-guided procedure typically used for reconstruction of bone surfaces.
"It's important because if the hip and knee replacement is placed more accurately and precisely, it will increase the longevity of the hip and knee replacement. It will make it last longer, decrease the risk of complication such as a dislocation, or early wear or failure, or even pain," said Robert Sherman, MD, an orthopedic surgeon at Upstate to TWC News.
