Lucideon, an international materials technology company, recently added impingement tests to its orthopedic implant testing services, according to News Medical.
Here are five things to know:
1. Impingement tests assess wear of the implant by analyzing the motion beyond the joint's natural limit.
2. The testing aids manufactures in approximating the lifespan of an implant as well as its ability to withstand abnormal conditions.
3. The method for impingement wear testing of hip implants is complementary to Lucideon's other testing services such as hip testing and knee testing.
4. The new method also has been validated to ASTM F2582-14.
5. The latest generation of gold standard simulators is carrying out the impingement testing.
