Spinal Tech

Implanet reported spine sales growth in the first half of 2015.

Here are eight things to know:

1. During the first six months of 2015, Implanet spine sales were up 66 percent over the same period last year. There has been uninterrupted growth in the segment for the past 18 months in priority regions.

2. There were more than 600 surgeries with the JAZZ implant in the first half of the year. “This validates our strategy of focusing on JAZZ implant at regions of the world with the greatest potential,” said CEO Ludovic Lastennet.

3. The company’s extension of the range launched in late May is beginning to bear fruit, accounting for around 20 percent of the first half of the year revenue.

4. The first surgeries in Latin America were performed and the region has potential for growth in the future.

5. Implanet reported 2.2 percent revenue growth for the first half of the year, and international revenue accounted for 55.1 percent of the total first half revenue. This is up from 40 percent of the revenue last year. United States growth drove the revenue increase.

6. The United States accounted for 16.5 percent of total sales, up from 7.2 percent in the first half of 2014.

7. There were 1,335 JAZZ units sold in France and 432 sold in the United States for the first half of the year. A total 2,176 units were sold all together in the first six months, up from 2,095 over the same period last year.

8. Knee activity was down 21.5 percent and the discontinued sales associated with hip activity is still having an impact on the company’s global sales performance and year-over-year growth during the first half. However, it’s not expected to have an impact from the third quarter onwards.
