Spinal Tech

Orthopedic Innovations entered into a patent license agreement with DJO Global, according to a Street Insider report.

Here are four observations:

1. The agreement resolves litigation pending in the District of Delaware, in which DJO was the defendant. The litigation was related to a patent for DJO's EPIK Uni-System Surgical Technique used for femoral resection.

2. The amount paid to Orthopedic Innovations, a wholly owned subsidiary of WiLAN, and the terms of the license agreement are confidential.

3. The licensed patents relate to orthopedic technologies.

4. The technologies include components used in knee replacement surgery.
