The University of Delaware in Newark received a 13-ton magnet to help with research of the brain, according to delawareonline.
Here are three things to know:
1. The magnet will serve as the center of a functional magnetic resonance imaging machine.
2. The fMRI allows researchers to identify which sections of the brain are active at specific times, unlike a regular MRI scan.
3. All university departments are allowed to use the research facility, but psychology, health sciences and engineering will jump in first.
