Spinal Elements received its 50th United States patent.

Here are five key notes on Spinal Elements:
1. The company's patent portfolio includes inventions for spinal fusion and motion preservation technologies as well as interbody devices, pedicle screws, stand-alone technologies and implant locking and securing apparatuses.
2. Todd Andres and Jason Blain founded Spinal Elements in November 2003 as Quantum Orthopedics. The company moved its corporate headquarters to Carlsbad, Calif., in 2004.
3. Key products for Spinal Elements include the standalone cervical implant Mosaic as well as the Lucent Magnum, Mercury and controlled delivery guns.
4. The company also produces the Hero Allograft, which donates proceeds from all sales to charities benefiting children with life-threatening medical conditions.
5. Last year the company launched the Ti-Bond coating that includes titanium.
