Spinal Elements, Mighty Oak Medical join forces to market FIREFLY system — 4 notes

Spinal Tech

Technology company Spinal Elements is collaborating with Mighty Oak Medical to market the FIREFLY surgical guidance system, according to Yahoo! Sports.

Here are four notes:

1. The system features bone models that work to help surgeons match the patient's anatomy via concierge pre-surgical planning and proprietary computer-designed guidance solutions.

2. The technology utilizes a patient's computed topography scan to create patient-specific pedicle screw guides that surgeons can use intraoperatively.

3. FIREFLY does not have capital equipment requirements, and surgeons can use the system to lower intraoperative imaging as the technology has accurate patient-matched guides.

4. During North American Spine Society's meeting from Oct. 26 to Oct. 28, Spinal Elements will display the technology at its exhibit.

"We are excited to partner with Spinal Elements on this technology. We feel confident that once surgeons experience the ease of use and accessibility of the FIREFLY system, they will gravitate towards predetermined screw sizes and trajectories, implemented with 3-D printed patient-specific guides, as a preferred course of treatment for their patients," said Mighty Oak Medical President Heidi Frey. "Spinal Elements, being a technology leader, is a natural partner choice for us to market this technology."
