DePuy Synthes, a part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies, has received new clinical evidence related to its Attune Knee System.
Here's what you need to know:
1. The National Joint Registry for England, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man, which tracks the outcomes of implant, reported that the rate of implant survivorship for the Attune Knee System was 98.61 percent at three years; this rate is similar to the rates estimated for cemented total knee systems.
2. An analysis of a hospital administrative database in the United States found that patients with the Attune Knee System had a 39 percent lower chance of discharge to a skilled nursing facility when compared to a different leading total knee replacement system.
3. Three presentations at the International Society for Technology in Arthroplasty showed interim results for the Attune Knee System, including improved patient reported outcome measures, reduced incidence of symptomatic patellofemoral crepitus and patellofemoral biomechanics comparable to the functionality of a normal knee.
