El Dorado Hills, Calif.-based Consensus Orthopedics has announced the upcoming debut of TracPatch, a wearable device to monitor patients' post-surgical recovery.
Here are five things to know:
1. TracPatch remotely tracks patients' post surgical activities by monitoring range of motion, ambulation, exercise compliance and wound site temperature trends.
2. Healthcare providers can use the device to constantly monitor a patient's recovery from total joint surgery. TracPatch offers unprecedented visibility into the patient's at-home recovery signals a new era of patient/healthcare provider care and accountability.
3. The device is attached below the joint line on the lower leg with a disposable, non-allergenic adhesive pad.
4. Consensus Orthopedics president Curt Wiedenhoefer said, "In this new value-based healthcare environment, to be able to combine the exploding adoption of wearable technology and apply it to the total joint industry is going to revolutionize the way we deliver care."
5. The company plans to debut the device at next week's AAOS Annual Meeting in San Diego.
