Medicrea reports 1st-ever 360-degree customized spine surgery— 6 things to know

Benjamin Taylor, MBBS, performed a 360-degree spine surgery leveraging a customized combination of Medicrea's proprietary UNiD ASI system technology, according to Markets Insider.

Here are six things to know:

 

1. Dr. Taylor performed the two-stage procedure at London-based Wellington Hospital.

 

2. Medicrea's UNiD LAB team of biomedical engineers collaborated with Dr. Taylor to plan the procedure as well as create four custom implants.

 

3. Dr. Taylor used Medicrea's Adaptive Spine Intelligence technology to customize the surgical plan to his and the patient's needs.

 

4. He utilized an anterior approach to implant three custom UNiD cages between the lumbar vertebrae.

 

5. In the second-stage of the operation, Dr. Taylor implanted two patient-specific UNiD Rods via a posterior approach.

 

6. This case represents the first 360-degree personalized spine surgery.
