SpineGuard, XinRong launch PediGuard in China: 5 key points

Spinal Tech

SpineGuard partnered with XinRong Medical to bring the company's technology to China.

XinRong Medical Group will launch SpineGuard's PediGuard device in China during the Chinese Orthopedic Association annual meeting, held Nov. 15 to Nov. 18. XinRong will host a workshop at the meeting to instruct Chinese spine surgeons on how to use SpineGuard Dynamic Surgical Guidance technology, which received China's FDA clearance.

"We are delighted by the collaboration with our very dynamic partner Xin Rong and are looking forward to supporting our common success in China with PediGuard," said CEO and co-founder of SpineGuard Stephane Bette.

SpineGuard's PediGuard device uses DSG technology to alert spine surgeons of potential pedicular or vertebral breaches. More than 55,000 surgical procedures have been performed with the DSG-enabled device worldwide.

XinRong, a 17-year-old medical technology company based in the Jiangsu Province of China, was the first company in China to receive CFDA to manufacture orthopedic implants. The Blackstone Group made a strategic investment in XinRong in 2014 and the company plans to continue partnering with SpineGuard for future technologies.

"SpineGuard has received the patent for its smart screw concept integrating its DSG sensor into the implantable pedicle screw through imbedding electronics into the screwdriver handle, opening new opportunities for further collaboration," said XinRong Medical Group CEO Christine Zhang.
