Lumere named Chicago-based orthopedic surgeon John Cherf, MD, as the company's first CMO.
Here are five things to know:
1. With 20-plus years of experience in orthopedic surgery and healthcare leadership, Dr. Cherf will be an asset to the company's efforts. Lumere provides data-driven analytics, evidence and guidance for healthcare systems to reduce unnecessary clinical variation and cost.
2. As the CMO, Dr. Cherf will help shape the company's solutions and services, with a keen focus on drug and device selection and utilization. "He is an experienced clinical leader who understands the unique concerns of physicians and can share that understanding with our clients," said Lumere CEO Hani Elias. "Because Dr. Cherf continues to practice, he brings practical experience as well as a keen awareness of the state of healthcare and a wide range of available drugs and devices."
3. Dr. Cherf sees opportunity in his new role to drive better clinical and financial performance; he will oversee Lumere's Physician Advisory Council, which provides field-based insights to support the company's solutions.
4. Dr. Cherf will continue his private practice and role as chief of orthopedics at Chicago-based Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
5. Prior to joining Lumere, Dr. Cherf spent time as CMO of Pinpoint Care, chairman of OrthoCentrix Solutions and president of OrthoIndex.
