Spinal Tech

Stimwave named Andrea Trescot, MD, as its CMO. Dr. Trescot will lead Stimwave's clinician education program and provide medical guidance for the medical device manufacturer's research efforts.

Here are five things to know:

1. Dr. Trescot is an interventional pain physician and director of the Pain and Headache Center in Eagle River, Alaska. She is a member of the Health and Human Services Pain Management Best Practices InterAgency Task Force and the past president of the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians.

2. Dr. Trescot received her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. She is board-certified in anesthesia, pain management, interventional pain management and critical care practice.

3. Stimwave is expanding its team in response to greater demand for its Freedom Spinal Cord Stimulation System and StimQ Peripheral Nerve Stimulator System for the treatment of chronic pain.

4. Stimwave manufactures microtechnology neurostimulators using Wireless Pain Relief technology; the devices are compatible with 1.5T & 3 T Full Body MRI scan conditions.

5. Dr. Trescot recently authored "Peripheral Nerve Entrapments" for clinician audiences and co-wrote "PainWise" for chronic pain sufferers. She has also written more than 150 peer-reviewed articles and textbook chapters.

Editor's note: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated the Pain and Headache Center was based in Alabama, not Alaska. We regret this error.
