DePuy Synthes Mitek Sports Medicine unveiled its Truespan Meniscal Repair System.
Here are five things to know.
1. The system is a knee arthroscopy solution designed to simplify meniscal repair and make arthroscopy procedures more accessible in Europe, Middle Eastern and African countries.
2. Truespan offers an ergonomic handle, single trigger and auto-reloading mechanisms for single-hand use.
3. Additionally, the system is designed to avoid jamming or misfiring, protecting implants and sutures with a depth stop and rigid needle.
4. Truespan offers surgeons 0 degree, 12 degree and 24 degree needles that are preloaded with PEEK implants.
5. Thomas Schwamborn, MD, was the first surgeon to use the system. He said, "The smaller size and improved stability of the needle helps to reduce soft tissue trauma and enable a more precise intervention."
