NuVasive launched the Magec X for early onset scoliosis treatment.
Here are three things to know:
1. Magec X features a reinforced locking pin and a robust actuator seal designed to contain and reduce the release of titanium wear debris. The new system also includes an anti-jam feature to simplify intraoperative and postoperative rod lengthening.
2. According to Peter Sturm, MD, spine surgery chair at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the Magec X allows surgeons to upsize their rods with low-profile screws, giving them the flexibility to use a larger rod without having to change screws.
3. In the U.S., more than 100,000 children are diagnosed with scoliosis each year.
