Smith & Nephew released its second quarter 2018 financial results.

1. The company experienced a 4 percent revenue spike year-over-year, generating $1.25 billion for the quarter.
2. Smith & Nephew's sports medicine, trauma and other business segment drew in the most revenue for the quarter with $502 million, a 5 percent increase year-over-year.
3. The company's advanced wound management segment reported $329 million in revenue in the second quarter, a 4 percent increase year-over-year.
4. During the second quarter, Smith & Nephew's reconstruction segment grew 4 percent year-over-year, topping $414 million.
5. Within the reconstruction segment, Smith & Nephew's knee implants brought in $258 million in revenue and hip implants $156 million for the second quarter.
6. When considering geographical location, the U.S. generated the most revenue for the company with $590 million.
7. Smith & Nephew is on track for full-year underlying revenue growth to be between 2 percent and 3 percent with trading profits at or above what was achieved in 2017.
