Spine surgeon Dr. Jeffrey Roh creates healthcare startup incubator

Spinal Tech

While the healthcare device industry has pivoted to acquiring companies to fuel innovation pipelines, early-stage life science companies are failing due to a lack of funding, GeekWire reports.

Spine surgeon Jeffrey Roh, MD, recognized this and decided to address the issue head on, starting life science incubator IntuitiveX. Since its 2016 launch, IntuitiveX has brought 12 startups under its umbrella.

Dr. Roh's spine surgeon background is present in the incubator, as six startups relate to spine surgery.

IntuitiveX highly values the startups' intellectual property and commits to supporting them for longer incubation periods.

"The potential to disrupt and create great solutions for tens of thousands, hundreds of thousands, if not millions of patients is within our reach," Dr. Roh said.
