Smith & Nephew completed the acquisition of Atracsys Sàrl, a Switzerland-based provider of optical tracking technology used in computer-assisted surgery.

1. The acquisition comes as part of Smith & Nephew's strategy to develop its digital surgery and robotics ecosystem to enhance clinical outcomes.
2. The company will use Atracsys's fusionTrack 500 optical tracking camera for its new robotics platform, which is due for commercial release in 2020.
3. The fusionTrack 500 aims to decrease procedure times and improve accuracy in surgical tasks such as bone cuts.
