Medtronic and Viz.ai collaborate on new AI technology

Spinal Tech

Medtronic is collaborating with Viz.ai to accelerate the adoption of Viz.ai’s artificial intelligence software for use in U.S. stroke centers.

Three things to know:

1. Viz.ai’s technology aims to improve patient outcomes by synchronizing stroke care and reducing time to treatment.

2 It uses AI to find large vessel occlusion strokes and automatically notify specialists via a hospital computed tomography scanner.

3. The software can send the radiological images directly to a smart phone where physicians can view and provide treatment for the patient more quickly.

"The combination of AI powered alerts, mobile image viewing, and HIPAA compliant communication facilitates synchronization of stroke care with great potential to impactfully reduce door-to-needle time and help an increased number of patients,” said Dr. Elad Levy, MD, chairman in the department of neurosurgery at the University at Buffalo's (N.Y.) Jacobs School of Medicine.
