NYU Langone's Dr. John Kennedy performs arthroscopic procedure with new navigation device

Spinal Tech

John Kennedy, MD, performed an ankle debridement with NanoScope, a new visualization system, at NYU Langone in New York City.

Four things to know:

1. Designed by Arthrex, the NanoScope enabled Dr. Kennedy to evaluate the cartilage repair as well as removing scar tissue and bone spurs from the ankle of the patient.

2. The device features a 1.9-mm scope to guide injections in tighter joint spaces and helps diagnose conditions such as arthritis and cartilage injuries.

3. NanoScope can also be used for orthopedic or endoscopic procedures in joints such as the knee, elbow, wrist and ankle.

4. Dr. Kennedy is chief of the division of foot and ankle surgery and professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at NYU Langone.
