On March 18, Medtronic pledged to increase production of ventilators that are in short supply for treating COVID-19 patients. The company has connected with Tesla CEO Elon Musk about the ramp up.

Bloomberg reported that Mr. Musk and Medtronic discussed the ventilators on March 21 and the two companies would work together to up ventilator supply. The two companies had an "engineering discussion" following Mr. Musk's pledge to offer more ventilators earlier in the week.

Medtronic initially said it would double capacity to make ventilators, and on March 20 CEO Omar Ishrak said the company was on track to meet that goal on a weekly basis.
