Medtronic's charitable arm is pledging an additional $10 million toward COVID-19 relief efforts, the device company announced March 25.
Total contributions by Medtronic and the Medtronic Foundation now amount to $11.2 million, which includes cash contributions to over a dozen health and community nonprofits.
The money will go toward efforts such as training for front-line healthcare workers, the provision of critical supplies and personal protective equipment, and surge preparedness.
The Medtronic Foundation is also organizing virtual volunteer opportunities for its 90,000-plus global employees and matching employee donations to nonprofit organizations.
"During this unprecedented global health crisis, we are committed to supporting and equipping the courageous front-line health workers who are delivering critical care to those in need," Medtronic Foundation President Paurvi Bhatt said in a statement. "Through volunteerism and financial investments, we continue to partner with thought leading partners working globally, nationally and locally — with the flexibility and investment required to meet this critical need."
