Medtronic is introducing two online platforms for at-home COVID-19 symptom monitoring and support, the device company announced March 27.
What you should know about the new offerings:
1. Medtronic's Respiratory Infectious Disease Health Check, which has already been launched for existing Medtronic Care Management Services customers, is designed to help individuals at high risk of COVID-19-related complications or mortality. The interactive platform allows patients to track respiratory infectious disease systems and provides education. Clinicians can review the data to support additional intervention, if necessary.
2. Medtronic's other new offering, the COVID-19 Virtual Care Evaluation and Monitoring Solution, evaluates patients for COVID-19 symptoms through a virtual assistant. If warranted by his or her symptoms, the user will be connected to registered nurses in the MCMS nurse command center who will advise on next steps.
3. Both technology solutions are available to existing MCMS customers, as well as other hospital systems, health plans and employers.
"These solutions aim to help manage unnecessary exposures, minimize burden on the healthcare system and escalate the most seriously ill patients for immediate care," said John Liddicoat, MD, executive vice president and president of the Medtronic Americas Region.
