Ocutrx Vision Technologies plans to unveil its OR-Bot Surgery Visualization Theatre at the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting, which is taking place virtually May 16-17, Bioworld reports.
Three things to know:
1.The OR-Bot fuses augmented reality, virtual reality, and human- and robot-controlled arms, which allow surgeons to perform procedures without having to look away from the patient.
2. The Irvine, Calif.-based startup designed the robot for use in spine and neurosurgery, as well as cardiac surgery and ophthalmology.
3. The device is yet to be cleared by the FDA. Ocutrx is beginning clinical trials at hospitals in the second half of 2021.
